The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) improves the health of underserved and vulnerable populations by strengthening the health workforce and connecting skilled professionals to communities in need. Our work is driven by our priorities: transforming the health care workforce through sustained support of clinicians working in underserved areas; increasing access to behavioral health services, including substance use disorder treatment; and leveraging health care workforce data to inform program and policy decisions.
National Center for the Analysis of Healthcare Data and National Center for Rural Health Works
The National Center for the Analysis of Healthcare Data (NCAHD) and the National Center for Rural Health Works (NCRHW) are non-profit research centers that perform economic impact and healthcare workforce analysis at the local, state and national levels. For over a decade, NCAHD has created national databases of individual provider level physician and fifteen other healthcare provider data for use in recruitment/retention, delineation of workforce shortage areas and other workforce planning activities. This includes an internet mapping portal that enables the user to estimate the need for 13 different specialty physicians. VCOM’s National Center for the Analysis of Healthcare Data (NCAHD) is the only national research center providing alumni tracking service utilizing physician’s practice location data as well as other mapping and spatial analysis needed for grant proposals, outcomes reporting, graduate medical education support and student service’s needs. New this year is our newly created specialty physician online reporting tool that allows users to predict demand, supply and shortages for 13 different specialties.
National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH)
The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) provides capacity building and support services to State Offices of Rural Health (SORH) in their efforts to improve access to, and the quality of, health care for rural Americans. NOSORH strengthens the work of SORH by supporting the development and education of state and community rural health leaders; creating and facilitating state, regional and national collaborative partnerships; fostering information sharing, communication and promotion of rural health-related programs/activities; and enhancing access to innovative and quality healthcare services in rural communities.
