About the Conference
3RNet members represent over 5,000 communities across the U.S. that actively recruit physicians and other healthcare providers. Attendees include 3RNet members and representatives from other state-based agencies involved in workforce issues, the federal Office of Rural Health Policy, Health Resources and Services Administration, National Health Service Corps, Veteran’s Administration, and Indian Health Service. 3RNet is committed to ensuring this event helps you make meaningful connections.

Philadelphia is full of great places to eat. Whether it’s fine dining or just strapping on the feedbag, you can find it here. Below is a list of restaurants, many suggested by Philadelphians. But a couple of tips:
- Reading Terminal Market is only two blocks away from the Loew’s Hotel. You must go there. Look for Tommy DiNic’s and get the roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe. At Miller’s Twists you can get Pennsylvania Dutch soft pretzels, including the cheesesteak-stuffed variety. Top it off with a Beiler’s donut. You’ll also find gourmet cheeses and other foods you can take home.
- If you are getting a cheesesteak, watch this video on how to order one. The true Philly steak has cheese whiz on it but provolone is better. Cheesesteaks are available many places but do not go to Pat’s or Geno’s. They are tourist traps.
- Also not listed here are the many Halal carts you will find around the city. They serve gyros, falafel, salads, etc. usually for the simple price of $5. They are a great option if you need something on the run.

Independence Mall and Old City Area
- The Liberty Bell Center – The Liberty Bell is a must-see of Philadelphia, located next to Independence Hall. Be sure to go see this iconic symbol of American Independence.
- Independence Hall – Be sure to visit Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed, and the Constitution was adopted. Check out visitor’s information. Tickets are free, but you must have a ticket to tour the building. If you want to get goosebumps, do this tour.
- Old City Hall and Congress Hall – You don’t need tickets to check out these buildings next to Independence Hall. Just line up for the regular tours and listen to the park rangers’ presentation.
- National Constitution Center -- The National Constitution Center serves as a hands-on, multimedia museum, a national town hall, and a civic education headquarters. Through must-see exhibits, timely speaker events, and engaging educational resources, we inspire active citizenship and bring the Constitution to life for people of all ages.
- The Betsy Ross House – Come visit this Philadelphia landmark which is reported to be the site where Betsy Ross sewed the first American Flag.
- Elfreth’s Alley – Elfreth’s Alley is a historic street in Philadelphia and is referred to as “our nation’s oldest residential street.”
- The President’s House: Freedom and Slavery in the Making of a New Nation – From 1790 – 1800 the President’s House served as the White House for George Washington and John Adams while Philadelphia was the nation’s capital. This site offers a glimpse of the lives of enslaved Africans who worked at the house during Washington’s presidency.
- National Museum of American Jewish History -- The National Museum of American Jewish History, on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, presents educational programs and experiences that preserve, explore, and celebrate the history of Jews in America.
- African American Museum in Philadelphia - The African American Museum in Philadelphia is the first institution built by a major United States city to house and interpret the life and work of African Americans. Experience the richness and vibrancy of African American heritage and culture.
- City Tavern – Not just a place to eat, but an historical experience as well. This is where members of the Continental Congress took meals and discussed the future of our country.
- Museum of the American Revolution - Opened on April 19, 2017, the Museum of the American Revolution explores the dramatic, surprising story of the American Revolution through its unmatched collection of Revolutionary-era weapons, personal items, documents, and works of art.
Off the Beaten Tourist Path
- Mutter Museum of the College of Physicians – This place must be seen to be believed. It’s a trek back into medical history. And don’t skip the gift shop. Highly recommended!
- Mummers Museum – The Mummers, who annually parade on New Year’s Day, are one of Philly’s strangest traditions. Imagine Tony Soprano dressed up like RuPaul.
- Eastern State Penitentiary – If the Mutter and Mummer museums aren’t strange enough, try Eastern State Penitentiary.
- Philadelphia Art Museum Steps and Rocky Statue – For film buffs this is a must-see “historical” site. Check it out and run up the steps, humming the Rocky theme in your head. You won’t be the only one doing it, promise.
- Edgar Allan Poe House National Historic Site – Baltimore tries to claim Poe for itself, but his house in Philadelphia is a national site. In Poe’s humble home, reflect on the human spirit surmounting crushing obstacles, and celebrate Poe’s astonishing creativity.
- Grip the Raven at the Philadelphia Art Museum – Speaking of Poe, you can see the raven that inspired Poe’s most famous work “The Raven.”
- Independence Seaport Museum – Tour the cruiser USS Olympia and the submarine USS Becuna, plus the schooner Diligence.
